HOW OUR DIAMONDS ARE GRWN

HOW OUR DIAMONDS ARE GRWN

Each GRWN diamond is grown free of traditional, fossil fuel-dependent energy grids that are damaging the Earth. Harnessing solar and wind power, our diamonds are grown through a process called CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition). This CVD process means that we supply a mixture of carbon-rich gasses to a chamber and heat these gasses to extremely high temperatures. As a result, the gasses break down and “rain” carbon atoms onto an incredibly thin layer called a substrate. This gradual accumulation of carbon develops into a diamond layer, which is then refined into gem-quality crystals in just a matter of weeks.

Every GRWN diamond is born from the “seed” of another diamond. This microscopic core is where the carbon atoms collect and grow into an entirely new jewel. All GRWN diamonds use the highest quality gemstone base, known as Type IIa.

Every one of our diamonds that is 2 carats or larger is accompanied by a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grading report. The GIA is a nonprofit grading laboratory recognized as having the most stringent grading standards. While many lab-grown diamond sellers use commercial labs with less demanding grading standards, we only sell diamonds that have met these extremely high standards.

THE GLIMMER OF TOMORROW

Every GRWN diamond is polished to meet a 2x Excellent cutting and polishing criteria. This precise process is how we maximize light return and brilliance. We also only cut crystals that meet the strictest world standards are F color and clarity.

While lab-grown technology has been around since the 1950s, in recent years it has taken off. Allured by carbon-neutral technology and affordable price tags, it’s no surprise demand for lab-grown diamonds is skyrocketing among millennial and Gen-Z buyers.

Diamond Quality (4s) and GRWN Standard: Double Ex (Excellent)

We believe the most accurate and ethical grading organization serving the jewelry industry is the non-profit, Gemological Institute of America, known worldwide as the GIA, a non-profit organization. As a result, all GRWN Diamonds above 2 Carats are graded by the GIA and are accompanied by either a physical or digital report (which is often referred to as a “certificate”).

The Definition of Cut

The cut of a diamond refers to its proportions, symmetry, and polish. A well-cut diamond will sparkle and reflect light beautifully. Look for diamonds with an "excellent" cut grade for maximum brilliance.

Color

Diamonds come in a range of colors, from completely colorless (the rarest and most valuable) to slightly yellow or brown. The less color, the higher the color grade. Colorless diamonds are graded D-F, near colorless G-J.

Clarity:

Clarity refers to the presence of tiny natural birthmarks called inclusions. Flawless diamonds are extremely rare. Look for a clarity grade of VS1 or VS2 for an eye-clean diamond at a reasonable price.

Carat

Carat is the unit of measurement for a diamond's weight. One carat is divided into 100 points. Bigger isn't always better - focus on cut, color, and clarity first. A well-cut 1-carat diamond can look larger than a poorly cut 2-carat diamond.
